Thousands have permanently cured their yeast infections--men as well as women--using this simple approach. Yeast Infection Medication
There are 2 ways you can approach any Candida albicans treatment: naturally or medicinally. This website is dedicated to the natural yeast cure route, but here is the most widely used over-the-counter yeast infection medication on the market today. Depending on which area of the body that requires Candida albicans treatment, one can decide on the right yeast infection medication.
Prescription/Over-the-Counter Yeast Infection Medications
Clotrimazole (Mycelex, Lotrimin) is a yeast infection antifungal. This one comes in cream form and is used to treat vaginal yeast infections and athlete's foot. Miconazole (Monistat) is another common over-the-counter yeast infection medication. Both of these are available without prescription.
Nystatin is a topical ointment that is also available in an oral tablet. This oral form is used in particular for thrush (oral yeast infection.) Fluconazole (Diflucan) is by prescription only and is administered orally. However, Diflucan is not recommended for pregnant women with yeast infections as it has not been proven safe for women during pregnancy. Taking this drug over time can build a resistance to the Candida albicans strain of yeast--making Diflucan ineffective.
More serious yeast infections may require voriconazole. This is prescribed by a doctor only and comes in pill and liquid form. Recommended for patients with weakened immune systems, voriconazole is metabolized by the liver, like all drugs are, so be aware of this fact if you have any medical conditions involving renal (liver) issues. This drug also has side effects, like vomiting, nausea and diarrhea.
Pregnant women should use creams, topical ointments or suppositories and avoid any oral medications altogether. Only use these medications under the strict supervision of a physician. Yeast infection medication does not interfere with pregnancy test results, as these just test for the pregnancy hormone HCG.
Natural cure for yeast infections
Keep in mind that there are alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs; this website is dedicated to a natural cure for yeast infections. Yeast infection medication is designed to temporarily cure your yeast infection, but doesn't really address the underlying causes of Candiadasis. Those with a recurrent yeast infection will attest to this 'bandaid-like' approach. It cannot be overstated that continual exposure to yeast antifungal medications put the user at risk of becoming immune to these very antifungals that used to cure.
Natural yeast treatments
As I mentioned in the yeast symptoms page, Monistat will not cure any yeast infection of mine (when I used to get them.) After realizing the insanity of how I was approaching my problem, I chose the natural plan of action. You can do the same, just like I and thousands of people have.
