Yeast Infection Diet

Is a yeast infection diet even necessary? You bet it is.  Eliminating foods that feed Candida or yeast is the first step in systematically strengthening the body’s immune system, in addition to helping it function in its original state.  It is then that natural yeast infection supplements and natural remedies can do their job much more efficiently.

Strengthening the body’s immune system will allow the white blood cells to fight the ‘bad’ bacteria with leukocytosis, an immune response.  Enabling the body to absorb nutrients better is the key here-enhancing overall health in general.

Here is a list of foods that you will want to avoid in a yeast infection diet:

Brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, molasses, turbino are included.  Make sure to also read labels carefully as they will reveal these hidden forms of sugar:  sucrose, maltose, fructose, lactose, glycogen, sorbitol, glucose, mannitol, monosaccharides, and polysaccharides.

Sugars, natural or otherwise will feed yeast immensely.  All forms of fruit are included from fresh to canned, frozen to dried fruits, and yes, even fruit juices.  There is a slight controversy on this; however, I personally juice with fresh carrots, grapefruit and apple-and I never felt better!

Obviously, foods that contain yeast must be eliminated.   Yeast-containing foods include: Baker’s yeast, Brewer’s yeast, and any other types of nutritional yeast.  Breads, rolls, bagels, muffins and pastries raised with yeast are in this list also.

Foods that have gluten in them are wheat, barely and rye.  Bread and pasta are your main choices to avoid.

All types of vinegar:  white, red, apple cider, rice, and balsamic vinegar.  These commonly used sauces and condiments also contain vinegar:  commercial salad dressing, mayonnaise, ketchup, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, BBQ sauce, shrimp sauce, mustard, pickles, soy sauce, green olives, horseradish, and chili sauce.

Beer especially is a big one here, as it is fermented with yeast in its production process.  It is believed that many alcoholics have a severe/abnormal craving for yeast in general.  A Candida diet can actually help, not worsen this condition.

Here is a list of foods that you will want to consume in a yeast infection diet:

Eat plenty of these all of the time, the body digests and handles raw foods better anyway, in addition to all the natural vitamins and nutrients raw vegetables provide.  Vegetables will also absorb mycotoxins (fungal poisons) as well as get them out of the body.

Buying organically raised meats (livestock that is raised without using antibiotics) can be a little more expensive, but  at least you’ll know what you are getting when you buy this type.  Limit your beef and pork intake; it has a long digestive process and because of this, can rot in your system.  Seafood is a great source of protein, but keep in mind that there may be mercury levels present in the fish you eat.  Farm raised fish is a safe bet when buying fish.

Yogurt is among the top foods you should definitely incorporate into your diet from here on.  This is the most ingested probiotic (’good’ bacteria) available.  Acidophilus supplements are a great alternative.
